Logan Farris
General/Vocal Music
Logan Farris has been working with children since his very first job as a camp counselor in high school. He uses the camp counselor approach of ‘I’ll show you something new and I hope you enjoy it. Come back tomorrow and we’ll learn some more!’ Mr. Farris has been at Oak Grove since 2007. Mr. Farris is the choral/general music teacher at Oak Grove and has taught every grade and even the Oak Grove Band. This year he will teach K-2 and 6-8. He runs two extra curricular choirs (4th and 5th grade and Junior High) after school and co-teaches the 8th grade musical with the drama teacher.
Mr. Farris has always been involved in music since an early age. He grew up singing and playing saxophone, piano, and guitar. He attended Western Michigan University where he sang in the renowned vocal jazz group ‘Gold Company’ where he had the opportunity to perform with artists like Bobby McFerrin and Janis Siegal from the Manhattan Transfer. Logan Farris also runs a vocal jazz group two nights a week at his former high school, Niles North.
Logan Farris has a Bachelor of Music Education from Western Michigan University and a Masters degree in Educational Technology from Concordia University. In the 2021-2022 school year Mr. Farris was honored to be nominated for Lake County Educator of the year. When Mr. Farris isn’t working; he enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, son, and two cats.
